The attached Excel planner is designed as a flexible, whole-class plan rather than an individual project plan. It’s structured so any teacher can use it, regardless of the specific media format or film they choose. The planner provides a framework for brainstorming and guiding lessons, allowing teachers to adapt it to their own media selections. 

 

The planner includes:

 

• Narratives and their Contexts (AOS1)

  • Covered through activities in early Term 1 and 2: genre/conventions, context analysis, creator intention, audience reception.

  • Includes comparative cultural analysis and audience response tasks.

• Media Production Process (AOS2)

  • Steps from brainstorming, idea generation, pre-production planning, experimentation, scripting, storyboarding, technical planning, filming, and post-production are clearly mapped.

  • Includes iterative refinement, audience feedback, and authentication checkpoints.

• Media Production Development (AOS1)

  • Continued documentation in MPP, development through audience testing, technical experimentation, and feedback integration.

  • Authentication and milestone tracking.

• Agency and Control in and of the Media (AOS2)

  • Integrated throughout Term 3 & 4 with media theory revision, ethical/legal frameworks, regulation, comparative case studies, and analysis of power relationships.

 

Assessment Integration

• Practical (SAT) and theory-based SAC tasks are distributed across the year.

• Revision and exam preparation in Term 4 links directly back to KK/KS from both Units 3 & 4.

• Resources (VCAA Study Design, ACMI, ATOM, case studies) are matched to each learning stage.
